Fabulous...period!" What things have gone wrong with the car? I've had to replace the wiper blades (only because I do so whenever I buy a new car) and had to order the rear wiper from the dealer, but nothing has actually "gone wrong" (knock on wood).
No serious failures mechanically or otherwise on this Malibu. Cruise control has failed to work for more than 4 months at a time since I have owned it.
OK, here's my story... i just bought a 2000 Chevy Malibu LS from a used car dealer, and as soon as I drove it off the lot, it started sputtering, leading to the "tune up", the sputtering has stopped, however the brake calipers on both sides of the front need to be replaced, got an estimate $464.36! What things have gone wrong with the car? I have had constant problems with the front disk brakes starting at around 3000 miles. The rotors keep warping and are also very prone to corrosion. There is a lot of vibration when applying the brakes.
Nothing yet, the car's brand new. I looked at carcomplaints.com and nobody's posted any complaints for the 2009 model year yet, and only minor things for the 2008 model, so I'll keep my fingers crossed.
Everything, I am so tired of buying the shittiest cars ever. I never replaced anything because I didn't feel like putting out that kind of money, but the brakes were bad when I got it, the engine was bad had something to do with the intake and exhaust manifolds.
I bought this car new in December 2000. My auto repair file for my 2001 Malibu is already thicker than the one for my 1991 Grand Am. 2494 Miles - right side fog light and side marker light burned out, dealer replaced under warranty.
The brakes shimmied about 5 months in, and the pads had to be replaced and rotors turned. The brakes subsequently made a metal on metal noise, which the dealership was able to hear, but could not fix.
1. Trunk wouldn't open. Had to crawl through the back seat to open trunk. Dealer could not fix. 2. Trunk continues to leak water severely - 2-3 inches in trunk every time it rains. Dealer cannot fix.
I'd have to say I can't agree with all of your comments. I must have found the diamond in the rough with my '99 Malibu. I bought it used, with only one previous owner and 32,000 miles on it back in 2000. I haven't replaced much of anything on the car.

1998 Chevrolet Malibu review from North America. "Money lost". What things have gone wrong with the car? One to the many on Chevy Malibus. The Anti-theft device is a terrible design. It goes off randomly. At that point you can't start ...
Cheap, classy, reliable, strong and fuel efficient!
I would absolutely buy another one
