Over the 15 months that I owned this truck, it was at the dealership for repair 15 times. Most of the problems were minor, but all were unexpected for a brand new purchase.
Had a 94 Ranger with 195k, and 3 slave cylinders and 2 trannys, but NO other problems. Got an 01 and love the 4.0, no problems other than drivers window broke twice. and it needs brakes every 40k, It has 130k now and overall I'm pretty happy.
Just thought I would remind everybody that is all Ford gung ho.. that the Ranger is made for Ford by Mazda.
What things have gone wrong with the car? 1. One valve stem rotted and I got a jackstand under the truck just in time after I added air and the stem began to hiss. I then twisted it off with my fingers. A second stem was following the same trajectory. All four replaced under Ford hidden recall.
